Building Tomorrow's Aviation Mechanic Workforce With Women
Aircraft mechanic school is where students train to become an aircraft maintenance technician (AMT), which is the FAA title used for aircraft mechanics. Another common title for an aircraft mechanic is Airframe & Powerplant (A&P). These technicians are trained to maintain and repair airplanes and jets to meet FAA standards. They are also authorized to inspect aircraft, supervise maintenance, perform preventive maintenance and modify aircraft and aircraft systems. Epic is proud to have been selected by the FAA to offer aircraft mechanic school at our flight school at the New Smyrna Beach Airport.
There are two ways to recognize a student's ability to demonstrate the knowledge and skills required for an aircraft mechanic: practical experience or completion of a training program at a school certified under Part 147 of the FARs. The Epic program is a Part 147 that is approved by the FAA.
Each course lasts approximately 4 months, making the entire Aviation Mechanics program approximately 19 months. This requires attending school 4 days a week (Monday to Thursday), from 8am to 3pm. Each course requires 450 hours of teaching time.
