Of The Best Fort Riley, Kansas Restaurants

Fort Polk, Louisiana - Whether it's breakfast, lunch or dinner, when you're on hunger strike, Fort Polk's Patriot Warrior Restaurant, Building 1162 Glory Loop and Geronimo Warrior Restaurant, Building 2382 Alabama Avenue should be the answer to the strike hunger The first line of defense is hunger.

Chief Officer 3. Michael J. Barnes, the Joint Readiness Training Center and Fort Polk food advisor, said restaurants need to be utilized, but the million dollar question is how to retain the Soldiers, families and Fort Polk community who came and gave them a chance.

"People, especially the military, know there are restaurants here, but many don't know the variety and quality of food we serve, or when it's served. That's why we started posting daily online on the JRTC and Fort Polk Facebook pages. weekly menus and send them as an email to all customers to advertise what our restaurant has to offer," he said.

Meet The Ukrainian Muslim 'food Warriors' Of Kyiv

Darrin Burnett-Smith, Sergeant Geronimo Warrior, manager of the restaurant, said his goal is to provide high-quality meals to soldiers and other patrons.

"It makes more sense for Soldiers to have a variety of food options available through the main line (entrées like meat and vegetables), fast food (quick and easy burgers and hot dogs) and Geronimo's Warrior Restaurant outside the line (Geronimo's Extra Bar offers wings and items (such as tacos), we can deliver anything a soldier wants there," he said.

Burnett-Smith said the two biggest reasons soldiers eat elsewhere is because they don't think the Warriors restaurant doesn't serve the food they want.

"I hope the soldiers at Fort Polk realize that's not true. I talk to the soldiers and get their feedback when they eat here. Most of my menu items and ideas come from the soldiers themselves," he said. "I'm open to new ideas and giving the soldiers what they really want while making sure the food we serve here tastes great."

Another important part of the equation, Barnett-Smith said, is getting Soldiers to realize they're getting their money's worth when it comes to the amount and variety of food they serve.

The restaurant will have a dining area on one side, but the other side is being converted into a grab-and-go kiosk called Geronimo Outpost, which will open no later than Dec. 1, Barnes said.

"If soldiers don't want to wait in line for the daily food delivery, they can use the kiosks to buy prepared food, like hamburgers or hot dogs, and take it back to their room," he said.

Like anything else, if the Fort Polk community doesn't have time to sit down for breakfast or lunch, they can use this quick and easy way to get a meal, Barnes said.

"It's open to anyone who wants to stop and have a bite to eat," he said.

Burnett-Smith said he believes the Warriors restaurant plays a vital role in the lives of soldiers at Fort Polk.

"I want the Soldiers to know that I am here to listen and do what I can to support them and the Fort Polk community. I want them to visit the Geronimo Warrior Restaurant and see for themselves what we have to offer," he said. "We put our heart and soul into the food we make every day. My team and I don't serve anything that I can't take home to support my family."
